Why Daily Driver? Because Racevan!

So, picked my transit up way back in 2010. Was a bit of a mess and half covered in sign writing. Was told it was mechanically sound and just needed new brake discs. This was a lie but talking about it will just make me angry lol.

So several hours of t-cut, a scrub inside and some black hammerite got me this





I then had a window fitted in the side door to get a cheaper rate on the ferry

As it was just used for the short trip to get me to race days and the odd run to the tip, I didn't really give it any love and can't remember the last time I washed it. It sat unused for most of last year as I moved out from my parents house so wasn't doing any racing. This year I'm making a comeback and decided that what with saving for a house, it was stupid having to insure, tax and maintain 3 vehicles. My Focus RS was going nowhere and as I needed a van for racing, my daily driver, a BMW 316 Compact, was sold.

In order to get the van ship shape I had brand new front discs and pads fitted at the weekend and 4 brand new tyres. As it's going to be a daily, I'm going to try and actually keep it clean. Filled 3 bags with rubbish and that hasn't half made a difference.

Plans for now are:
Give the interior a good tidy up
Fit new sliding door rail (to replace the one damaged by someone I'm guessing trying to get into my van when it was parked in the pub carpark)
Get new front wishbones fitted as the bushes are shot
Sort steering wheel (horn doesn't work and airbag light is flashing so any ideas would be much appreciated)

Tint rear door windows
Fit lino in rear
Fill dinks on body
Matte black paintjob
Nice wheel trims or repaint wheels
Fit bulkhead to reduce road noise in cab
Fit CD Player
Upgrade and fit additional speakers
Tint front windows
Maybe try bodging on sport bumpers

I race karts. This will probably be my last year until I've bought a house and got settled in there. Love racing but got a few things I'd like to do to the RS and I quite want to build up another fiesta project.

Managed to get a pic of the van at the moment. Getting the rear windows tinted on saturday and hopefully sorting the door and giving it a first wash in yonks.

so getting the rear windows tinted this weekend and going to try and take full advantage of there being no rain forecast tomorrow to fix my side door and give the van a clean.
Loved my first week of using it as a daily. I have to come into the car park a bit slower as its quite narrow but haven't had any problems parking (just jinxed myself forever) and its cost me less in fuel than my 316 BMW did (so can only guess that had something wrong with it )

doddle to fit unlike universal seat covers I may have bought for a fiesta when I was younger

cleaned the dash and door cards which was badly needed as you can see in the first pic.

Amazing what £1 worth of tesco baby wipes and dish cloths can do when combined with dance music



rear windows tinted. great price and makes such a difference to the look of the van. once the bulkhead is fitted you wont be able to see inside which is what I want


and another minor but important purchase. seeing as it isnt hidden on my parents driveway anymore, thought I better get a locking fuel cap. ordered on ebay yesterday lunch time and got here this morning so mega impressed.

yep that's the one.

ordered a new pair of front wishbones today. £56 delivered to the gf's parents house as they wouldn't deliver to the island. Luckily they are coming over next week

Nope white or black and although black wouldve matched my future colour scheme, didn't like the sound of their scent and you can't beat classic white

did you come over by plane and deliver it personally? seriously, good job as it often takes stuff coming from just down the road longer to get here.

Also found out my wishbones have arrived up in scotland, again less than 24 hours from ordering them. Should have them here next weekend ready for fitting.

Really wanting to work on the looks asap as all of a sudden seems my van is the only one over here without alloys. I can't justify the expense with saving for a house so need some decent wheel trims

Does anyone know if the bodykit for the mk7 sport van can be made to fit a mk6?

Anything can be made to fit anything there's a Mk5 on here thats had a Mk6 front end grafted on (bonnet,wings etc) so cant be a hard job to do what you're thinkin its the same van from the wings backover so i'm guessing that only the front bits would need to be "fettled" to fit
