MK6 project donkey

Postby p412ker » Sun Jun 01, 2014 9:05 pm

Only signed up yesterday to this forum after buying a 2003 transit 280 85, stumbled across the van by accident through a friend in the trade who mentioned it to me. So went to veiw the van and it turned out its only covered 35k and a very straight van so bought it there and then for the grand total of £1200.
The van is to be used to tow my cars and and motorbikes around and general everyday duties, now Ive been scouring the internet and forums for inspiration on what to do with the van to make it more appealing to the eye and to improve the performance or lack of it lol. so any suggetions are more than welcome :D
First of all its booked in this week to be colour coded and the arches sorted out where rust has started to com through. Not touched it yet though, just drove it home.

Just been reading your thread and the mk 7 front end conversion looks very tempting lol, but im getting the arches sorted first then trying to source some differnt wheels and improve performance :D

You're hardly going to turn a 2 litre diesel, in a Transit, into a Cosworth  but he's your best bet ...............

You say you want it for towing bikes and cars - its only a 280 so will have a 3500kg train weight. So, if the van is fully loaded you will only be able to tow about 700kg with it. If its empty/lightly loaded you could tow 1500kg with it (which is the max Ford recommend).

But it looks like you got a great deal on the van!
