1983 Ford Transit Clubmobil V6

Postby darrenxr3i » Sat Aug 23, 2014 10:22 pm

I thought i'd start a thread on the progress of my clubmobil now it's in England. It's a 83, fitted with a v6 2.9 12v and manual box.
I rescued this from a German barn last year where it sat for 12 years.
Plans are repaint in original silver, and resto. I need to do some welding, and some rewiring as it's got a complete scorpio loom installed.. including clocks, switches etc.. so i'm planning on sourcing the correct transit items for the van. Needs a lot of interior work, but the seats are there and all good.

Got her started the other day (on old fuel) and I'm pleased to say she starts and runs well.. Here's the pics if you havent seen already..

very cool, the German version of my van :) Is that front spoiler unique to the Clubmobil, or was that a Ford accessory?

perhaps if Darren was inclined to, he might consider taking a mould off his, and selling a few copies, I would like one for my van, and you makes two! Not saying it would make you millions Darren, but might be a nice little earner all the same if you can find a friendly fibreglass man to work with. :)

Mr Grimly, if you need to take a mould off mine then that's no problem at all if it helps you out

I've got the Ronals to fit on it now as well.

I like the blue, but it was originally silver, so I probably should go back to that colour. Although I would really like to do something different like mercury grey maybe?

No doubt this will end up at some same shows as mr grimly's so it would be a shame if they were identical, as they are so rare.

I saw a pic of a two tone silver / black so would like to do that maybe.. all ideas at the minute

When I first got mine it had been painted blue (really badly) and as we were stripping the paint off the roof was white !!! No idea why. i bet a few people would buy moulds of the front spoiler, you in Essex area ? Did you win the ronals off ebay ? Yes would be bit of a shame if they were identical but as they were all svo it might have had different stripes. Mercury grey would look nice with stripes like these ones.

Yeah I quite like the stripes in that picture.

I'm in Dartford, just across the bridge. And yes I did win the Ronals on eBay. I just put a ridiculous bid in (far more than they are worth i think) and closed my eyes and hoped for the best. The missus wasn't too impressed though. I had to win that auction though, the van needed them, and I couldn't find another set.
