8 wheel + Mk 1

Postby Andy P » Wed Nov 26, 2014 2:20 pm

Hi

many years ago like about 35 years I lived in north London N16 when people used to customise cars and go to the Chelsea cruise each month in mk1 escorts, cortinas, capri ect anyway there was a mk1 transit with at least 8 wheels [it just kept getting longer] each time I saw it, it was white had roof spoilers and all sorts on it, just wondered if it was still around anymore or gone to heaven ?

thanks

ok been told by 2 people that remember it that it was a 6 wheeled transit [ I am sure it was 8] but a longtime ago, got a friend going to look through his old albums to find a pic of it.

It belonged to Pete in Seven Sisters Road....

Me and him built it in the late 70's 8)

What would you like to know about it?

Went to the Chelsea cruise back in the summer as I used to go quite regularly.
It wasn't as big as it used to be but would probably go back again this summer although it's a bit more of a journey now as I live in Bournemouth

I remember seeing a 6 wheel van with an exrended rear end about in Brimsdown in the mid 80's, same one?
Also remember SHE, a SWB Mk1 CF with filled rear doors in E Highway it was in CC or SM back in the early 80s

Was Pete or you anything to do with the mid engined V8 CF in Amhurst Pk ?
Me and a mate bought it in the late 80's, towed it back to Waltham X on a rope  back when sundays were quiet on the roads 8)

It was a mid-engined Transit from Amhurst Park

Pete moved from Amhurst Park to live above the Trophy Shop

in Hertford Road opposite Galliard Road.

It was 3 Mk1 Transits welded together with a VW LT Roof

and a NSU RO80 front.

Mid-Engined with an American V8 8)

There was also a matching trailer made from 2 Mk1 Transit rear halves....

All this was in the late 70's Early 80's

This is why you must forgive me when I wasn't too interested in the "Forum Van'

Been there...Done it....Nearly 40 years ago
