MK1: THE MOON ROOF

Postby ilkeryesim » Fri Nov 06, 2015 5:34 pm

Many years ago, my husband's father was a transit MK1 driver. 28 years later, we bought two tiny MK 1 for restoration, this is our dream project and we started to work at these bodies.

thanks for good luck wishes transitandy and jonochap. We were pleased to meet you here.
During this week, the van began to pasted and sanding.
İn the meantime, i've cleaned and rubbed steering wheel with emery paper i looked for 26M steering wheel but i couldn't find.
I cleaned the steering box when the mechanics work on body sanding
Sakarya is full of automotive companies but it's a poor place about terms of master skills, finding spare part and some special tools. Today, i cleaned front grille and drawed F font as original type and afew days later it will be shaped on CNC router.

A few weeks ago, I decided to install wheels on my old rims which were taken off from my own Alfa 156, but we had a big problem because, we'd needed 5x160 to 5x112 rim spacer adapter. I couldn't find this adapter for this size. So, i tried to draw it with Adobe Illustrator, and today, we shaped a plastic model for the adapter with appropriate size ready to manufacture. In the evening, the adapters were ready to install :) here these products are at our other mk1 now; I think I succeeded this job.

Hello, I'm Yeşim. now, ilker and his repairman who is named akif are working for repairing body damages, this guy is like an antman, he said that a bodywork repairer mustn't be like a whale. I'm an internal medicine doctor at a private hospital and i wonder about the progress, İlker sends many photos throughout the day, they work hard and at the end of the day, i find them like this :)
