Dans boogie van

Postby bigdan » Sat Mar 19, 2016 6:27 pm

I expect most will loath this, but... The idea of custom is to build sh*t the way YOU like it, I've always liked the American boogie vans from the 70s, started with an old builders transit, and started cleaning it up, the pics tell the rest of the story

Yea I've heard all the pimp cracks and buggy bear stuff too. Lol

Saw this on Facebook, made me smile, certainly different with a 70s feel, what's the plans for the rest of the van?

Outside: deep dished steel wheels. Side bars/nudge bar and I'm making an aluminium hotrod style sun visor
Interior: kitchen area behind rear seats, and a fold down bed along the other side. Possibly a hammock as I need that space to transport my bike, as I do a few bike shows but take a lot of stock and my pinstriping gear too

Yup... Bandit 1200 engine, ripped out all electrics and had a friend fab up new cover and mount to put the vertex magneto on, junked the bank of 4 carbs for a single SU on custom manifold with stainless 1 off exhaust to match, braided hose all round, aux head cooler, and a squirt of nitrous for good measure. Frame was a huc built frame, cut the down tubes and back bone out to fab up a 6" gooseneck into it, hand built girder forks and yokes, with a shock out my sons old trial bike, Ktm wheels, bsa bantam tank, seat I hand beat from 3mm aluminium plate, pretty much mostly in a 8x4 garden shed

Waiting for some warmer weather to strip it down and attack with metal flake & candy paint, airbrushing/lace and pinstriping.
It has a custom sidecar too, but that's still very much in construction
