spudmab 2nd mk6 tourneo with a twist

Postby spudmab » Sat Apr 02, 2016 9:50 am

Hi everyone, since I brought my tourney I have been trying to get a hole lot of problems sort out, nearly there so now I have gone and loaded myself up with even more work.

I picked up this yesterday to cut up and make a trailer to carry my motorbikes and use as a camper type thing.

As you can see it's like they are twins, lol, I fitted a bulkhead to temporally seal of the rear. I have also gutted the front out.

This is my birthday project from my oher half as she always gets me great stuff. Beats socks and cups ect. Should look the nuts when it's behind my van.

I'm hoping to get it done for transit mania, as my 3 year old wants to go camping and that will be the first weekend to test it all out

Well its to much like hard work taking the rear bench seats out to fit a motorbike in my van, so this will help big time, I have a small trailer but the motorbikes are out in the weather and easy pickings for anyone.

I am trying to figure out how to sort the locking system out, all 3 rear doors have central locking but no key holes, I would like to have them lock unlock from a remote, have a battery inside the van with a solar panel on the roof to keep it charged.

Any ideas how to wire the 3 doors up?

Looks cool mate. BTW, Sam is still pumped after today. As predicted, ran out of fuel. 15 litres burnt today.......!

In my loft, I've got a kit somewhere you can add to achieve central locking. Possibility it'll have a key fob. I'll take a look. You re welcome to it if I've still got it.

Thanks that's the sort of thing I have been thinking of, just need to sustain the rest of the wiring.

Found it. You can have it. Brand new. Had it years. Might be of some use. Think you'd have to add lock solenoids though.

Cool thanks, could you please get Sam to drop it around at some point so I can try to get things locked up,

No problem. As I say, you'll need lock solenoids though. It also has a globa window closure facility by the (brief) look at it.

It would make a good trailer. As it will be over 750kg, Make sure you can get brakes to work.

***NOTE*** All trailers built/constructed after 29th October 2012. Must have a Individual Vehicle Approval (IVA) inspection.
Before they can be legally used on the road.

Yeah planning to use the standard hand brake setup with a heavy duty tow hitch,

I haven't had much time to get on with the conversion but I have managed to drop the tank out, and remove the last part of the exhaust system also remove the gear stick so hopefully I can start to remove the cab floor to get the chassis rails exposed and work out what metal I need to order.

Well nothing has happened with this trailer for a good few weeks as life has been mental.

But today the sun has been shiny so time to get my cut on.
