Mk5 tourneo jag-van mk2

Postby Pocketrocket » Wed Sep 28, 2016 11:24 pm

Just thought id start a new thread as its a completely different van.
Those of you who don't know ive gone and bought lukes old mk5 tourneo. :?
It will be having the jag engine fitted but first off is the rust issues and front end rebuild after he had a bump which is why he laid her up in the first place.
Shes looking a bit sorry for herself atm but a wash and a clean will soon have her looking better.
The old jag-van mk1 is now redundant and will eventually become a trailer/micro caravan (just too much rot)
Ill try and post as I got again but as the engine side of things is just about sorted it will be the usual rust removal/welding posts first off.
Anyway a couple of pics from earlier tonight :D

Few hours spent on the van this morning, interior/flooring is completely out bar the dash and door cards, started to pick at the rust and to be honest there isn't that much!
Its got rot on the usual places for a smiley ie arches, back corners and sills but even those aren't complete losses.
Anyway as usual couple o pics

Bit more progress made on the tourneo over the last week or so, front end getting rebuilt first before it goes on lukes van rollers for the underside bits and bobs, new rear arches will be on order soon too.
Anyway a few progress pics as usual, :)
Ps the jag van is no more :(

Cheers robbie, never done any serious bodywork rebuilding like this before so its all a bit new and daunting
Just placed some of the panels on this morning to see how things line up, she needs a bit of teasing here and there but im happy with my learning curve for now

Ok a little progress report and some pics, got the inner arch repair piece from the old jagvan welded in, got the repair patches welded in, got the bumper bar welded in, and now got the inner arch welded in. :D
The wing is just self tappered on in position at the minute till ive finnished the final bits/bobs same as the arch to step piece till the step is repaired with a couple of small patches.
Also got my steering wheel fitted! :D
Heres some pics

Couple of update pics as usual, front n/s is now welded in place and seam sealed in ready for primer, as is the lower arch to step and door sill.
Ive also made a start on the sliding door sill it was fairly solid down most of its length but a bit scabby with surface rust due to being stood so decided replacing the lot would be best :)
Just inner sills to do when its on its side ;)

Thanks lads, been doing the bodywork for the last few weeks and got a bit burnt out with it so went onto something else to to freshen up my eyes.
Ive set about modding the tourneo bases and fitted some swivels to them, quite pleased how they work but won't know if ive got any clearance issues on the drivers side till its fitted, I also wanted to keep them looking factory fitted so keeping the trims round the seats was a must.
No pics as yet, will get some tomorrow ;)
