Little bit of progress on the old girl for a change, made a start measuring up my spare bumpers that I'm going to be modding over the next few weeks, (no pics) and also made a start on the spare bonnet that came from the original jag van by cutting in some replica mustang vents, gotta say I'm supprised I did such a neat job on my 1st go!
It needs a few dings sorting here and there but all in all I think it will look smart once it's done.
Few pics of the progress 8)

keep up the good work :)

Yeh I did think about the louvers as you can buy the panels ready punched to weld in on ebay, but at £40 a pair they aren't cheap but I recon they would look wicked, may have to go down that route myself eventually, I'll see how these grow on me 1st

So I meant to update this sooner but as usual my crapy memory has struck again!
Little bit of progress on the bonnet, 1st blow over with primer for the under side and the drip plates have a coat of colour on them too 8)

Also bought this over the weekend, it's the ms3x so it will do up to x8 fully sequential ign/inj outputs which fits my engine needs perfectly!
Thanks to DodgeRover for pointing it out to me and thankfully it was still for sale after all this time!
Going to be building a loom on the spare engine so when the time comes it's just a matter of swapping over ecus/wiring (that's the plan  )
Then it will be off for a rolling road map 8)

Right chaps thought it was about time for a lil update. :D

I've been busy building the new loom for the megasquirt, it's not the easiest thing to get your head around but once you read the diagrams etc it's fairly easy to follow and make up.
The way I've gone about it was make rough measurements on the van and spare engine, make the individual pieces and lay them on the spare engine for fitting/trimming.
I'm using the cops from the xtype as they have the built in ignition driver too so no more untidy spark leads 8)
I should be able to tune the ms to at least start and run the engine, I'll be using tuner studio pro with auto tune so should hopefully tune the fueling itself, I reckon it will need a rolling road tune for the finer adjustments and to set the vvt to open at the best time.
I also picked up a couple of wheels for the front too, they we're on ebay for a bargain price and had to have them.
I've had the idea for a while about getting another pair to match the rears but they only come in 9j width with a negative 35mm offset, so with this in mind I'm going to get them reduced banded (if that makes sense? )
Taking 2in out of the dish should leave me with 7js and a positive 15mm offset.
I'll probably have to fit standard springs on the front again too now

Right chaps, small update,
The ms loom is coming along nicely and should be ready to fit very soon, I've just got to get a couple of free weekends lined up (1 for taking out the old loom and putting the ms in, and 1 for refitting the old loom if the ms doesn't run straight away  )
The bonnet is finished, just needs fitting.....it's by no means a mint job but it is presentable for now till I can afford a full respray for the van and trailer together.
And the wheels are now done (well reduced at least) they just need the holes redrilling to the 160pcd and the old holes welding up, the holes for the cap head bolts drilling and then painting. Gonna go for a 205 45 17 tyre for the fronts and 245 45s for the rear.
As usual a few pics 8)

Small update, the megasquirt ecu is ready to go, just a few loose ends on the wiring side to tie up before it can go in the van. I have a long weekend booked from work at the end of this month to fit it so fingers crossed it will go in and fire up at least.
It took me ages to get the laptop to communicate with the ms and in the end it was me that wasn't restarting the pc to confirm changes/settings required for the ms+pc to talk to each other........4 very late nights later, now they do!
(Luckily for the ms as it nearly went through the window! )
the front wheels are coming along nicely too, they have been redrilled and the old holes welded up, had the rim holes for the studs drilled and a rub down and light skim of filler over the welds/previous holes, still the other to do but the 1st has come along nicely 8)
