MK7 Race/Crew van

Postby focusturbo » Tue Nov 01, 2016 10:58 pm

Hi guys,

Thought id start a post on my van, Here goes

I bought this about a month or so ago with no engine or box but other wise complete. My original plan was to also buy a rotten mk6 and swap all the engine and associated parts over.

Its a 2007 110ps fwd medium roof long wheel base 1 owner

The plans have changed a bit since i bought this locally. Suspected turbo failure.
Although im not 100% convinced thats the issue but for the price i paid I'm really not that fussed. It gives me all the parts i need to finish the blue one and has the added bonus of having, heated screen, auto lights and wipers, electric windows
Which will now all go into the blue one

After speaking with Paul2012 on here I've decided to have him give the engine a rebuild/refresh before its converted to 140 ps (seems better to be safe than sorry) A few bodywork jobs to do on the van before this tho

It was owner by AAH Pharmaceuticals and as a result has a bit of bodywork required but on the plus side no rust!
I will use all the front end panels from the silver van as they are in much better condition than the blue ones ( these will be for sale soon if anyone wants a cheap mk7 front end :D )
I will also do the same with the front doors.
the other issue with the bodywork is some numpty has jacked it up on the sills in 2 or 3 places and pushed them in

The main use of the van will be to Tow my Race car around and carry the spares and passengers we take to every meeting.
So front section will be converted to an extra 3 seats, windows in the side front area and the rear will be converted to take the spares and tools.

Bit of an update!

The blue van is in the workshop and we have started stripping in preparation for all the work that is being carried out.

Front end off , doors off, screen and all interior out

Crew partition and seats purchased had to do a 600 round trip to collect these

Who ever owned the van before jacked the van up on the sills and pushed them all in. 2 places on the passenger side and 2 on the drivers side.

no way on this planet was we able to straighten the this one out so its being replaced

Started to strip out the engine and box Today

And its out

The silver van was bought with suspected turbo failure . After inspecting the turbo its quite clear that the turbo is indeed the problem
Image

Loosely fitted the panels on to the blue van, they are less likely to get damaged there lol
