Great project! :D

What did you use for the bumper paint and how's it holding up?

Cheers

Used this and a year later it still looks mint. Honestly suspected it would be back to faded grey again after a few months

Lockdown boredom kicking in again.

Had a tin of the bumper paint left so thought I'd give it a whirl on the inside as it lasted so well

I know I really cba taking everything out to get the main big of the lower dash out so will more than likely spray it in situ

Turns out the rest of the dash was pretty easy to get out, except for the thin strip above the glovebox so I sprayed it where it was

Image

Will get the other pieces cleaned up, painted and fitted before the end of the week hopefully although suspect I'll need to order another tin of paint

Managed to get the rest done during my WFH lunch hour

Image

Next job will be the door cards and A pillar trims when the cans arrive. Realised the seat belt holders are also the "wrong colour" but as they're less visible they'll be last.

Wondering whether to maybe go black with the headlining too

Driver door card done. Miles better in black and I'm not sure why they didnt come like that from factory?

Image

Wondering whether some silver door handles would finish it off a treat. May sort some at some point but got some bits coming for the RS now so might not be spending any more on the van for the time being

Mk1 Focus
48k
320-330bhp

Will a lower pocket fit on the driver side too? Be handy having the extra storage for throwing bits in

Other door and A pillars done.

Then when I went to move it, the engine light and battery light both came on. Battery Light has been on for a while where the van hasn't been getting used that much but the engine light was new. Went to take it for a run after dinner and it wouldnt start at all

Having instantly gone into a panic that the engine had imploded somehow, a quick search revealed that the engine light will come on if the battery is really low, something to do with it upsetting the ECU?

Anyway, put my battery restorer on it and it was in a pretty poor state, but looks to be recovering. Forgot how much new batteries were although I think I may be able to blag it under warranty if I can't nurse it back to health

Aye a lower pocket fits nicely, I had to trim a little off the front top corner to fit it under the standard door pocket,

Might paint mine black now after seeing how good yours looks 8)

I get my batteries from advanced batteries in Stockport, think I paid £70 for the last one, purchased through eBay with next day delivery and 5 year warranty, those big ass Bosch ones are highly recommended on here as well but £130 each

Ooow a nice mk1 focus RS, is it blue, there always blue, I half expected you to say RS500 cosworth.

Stockport not an option for me with the current border restrictions in place
Hopefully can get out of buying one for a bit longer.

May have to find a pocket. I did wonder whether it'd fit with the way the driver door card drops down at the front but if it just needs a trim and I I've got the holes in place, worth a go

New washer pump fitted and now all working nicely :D

Also swapped the air filter for a fresh one. Fuel filter and the oil change can wait until the weekend when I'm not limited to my lunch hour

Gone to do my oil change today and can't get the bloody oil filter housing off. Even the impact gun wasn't shifting it so god knows what they used to put it on.

Thinking I may end up having to smash it off and fit a replacement

Not done much other than use it.
Rear shocks have been getting worse and worse over the past few months due to age and also the angle they've been sitting at since fitting the lowered leaf springs.
As it looks like I'll be keeping the van a bit longer than first expected, these arrived today

Image

GAZ shortened rear adjustable shocks, designed for the lowered leaf springs. Can't wait to see what difference they make once fitted

I realise it’s been over a year since the thread has been updated but you never know…..do you happen to know the part number of those Gaz rear shocks as my lowered van has killed a set of standard shocks.
Cheeers!
