Decided to re-do my project thread to cut put the pictures in properly and cut out some of the waffle

Last year, I needed a van so bought this

2006 2.2 280 SWB m/r 85ps on 140k

I race karts (hence the plate) and at the time was helping out a young lad and although I could fit 1 kart on the roof of my disAstra estate, 2 wasn't happening

First job was remove the rear shelving, selling the roof bars and using it to move house

Stuck the old mats I had lying about from my 1st Focus RS

Used the hair dryer trick on the plastics to bring them up black again. Worked better than expected, although they are now faded again due to the fact I rarely clean it

Headlight bulb went, so upgraded the light. Only cheap off eBay but the difference is night and day

As I also sleep in it at the track, one cold November night led me to look at insulation. Ended up buying some foil bubble wrap type stuff that won't sweat and will also keep weight down.

Started with the floor

Then behind the side panelling

Over a year after buying replacement doors that got bent when the mrs didnt back me in properly during the house move, I fitted them

ImageIMG_20170725_190944 by danbougourd, on Flickr

Whilst I was at it, I set about changing the high level brake bulb, but there was a problem

ImageIMG_20170725_174337 by danbougourd, on Flickr

Found what looked like the bulb holder inside the bottom of the door

ImageIMG_20170725_174348 by danbougourd, on Flickr

Had at some point been snapped away from the lense so I broke out the glue gun and fitted a new bulb. Was a little bit pleased with myself as was just about to spend £20 on a replacement unit :D

More insulation going in during the small amount of free time I have at the moment with a wedding now less than 2 weeks away

Image20479896_10159260121220492_1649367927185543303_n by danbougourd, on Flickr

Also thought as I've got tonnes of the stuff left, I may as well do against the inner skin, as well as the back of the ply lining

Image20375945_10159260124805492_4245018931358226614_n by danbougourd, on Flickr

Plus another little addition from my old RS. Nobody wanted to buy it so shame for it to sit under my bed gathering dust :D

Main plans atm are to finish the insulation and then move onto the outside as I'm starting to get a lot of arch bubbling that seems to be spreading alarmingly quickly

Toying with the idea of installing mains hookup and a couple of plugs inside for when I'm at the track. Could also do with replacing the factory headunit for something with bluetooth and ipod connectivity.

This is the only forum I use that seems to still get a lot of traffic as everything else just seems to have moved over to facebook which is a huge shame, so I will do my best to keep this updated

Time for a bit of pikey paintwork

Far from perfect as I tried rushing it towards the end but atm I'm more interested in sorting out the little rusty bits before they turn into holes and the winter weather is upon us. Once we get to spring I'll go round the bits I'm not happy with to a better standard

Picked up a donor front bumper for £20 so I have one to chop up to make a debadged grille.
In addition to that, I also fancy some banded steelies and a suspension drop, but as always, it will depend on whether I find other things to spend my money on

Only taken me a month to make a start. Will be genuinely surprised if it's on the van this year

Great thread and nice little tutorial on the aux lead mate. Do keep the updates coming! How did the de-badge of the front grill go?

Been mad busy, hence the lack of updates. Got quite a bit to sort out in the next couple of weeks, mainly rust

Both of the rear wheel arch tubs need some work, all 4 arches are showing signs of bubbling and a few tiny spots along the bottom of the body and the roof need treating and painting. I then need to get the grille finished and fitted. Made some good progress fitting out the back, but that all came out tonight in preparation for rust repair so will update as it goes back in and will hopefully be neatened up to as it was a bit thrown together in a hurry.
