So it's been to and back from the painters, the rackings been remodeled to suit my desire.
Lights have been fitted.
Some insulation and paneling has been put up and it's all taken bloody ages!
But now the push to have it on the road for the end of the month.

The plan is to get this one on the road as is and then strip my old one for doner parts for the new one. And I'll hopefully get round to expanding this thread with a few pics.

So it's got a current MOT, insurance switched over at midnight, it's taxed and on the road.
Now need to just fill it with all my crap to get the suspension to sit down a bit
More to follow soon as I get a chance. Or get my arse in gear

So after getting the van on the road I ran it with my original basic 35mm lift in the front with the big boots swapped over too so not to wreck the good tyres on the alloys.
My mate then ripped all the running gear and subframe out of the original van for me which meant I could get the subframe parts powder coated and over the Christmas break I got a couple of different seasons on it to get the rear axle, transmission, front diff and shafts, propshaft, subframe spacers and mounts, fuel tank and electrics all swapped over.
Had a bit of a Mair getting it back on the road with a lack of oil pressure which saw me stripping the sump and timing covers and replacing the oil pump while I was in there, as seemed to have oil pump issues when trying to first prime up, which came down to what appeared to be a sticky oil check valve in the oil filter housing I'd swapped from the original van.
So she is now what was always intended, a 3.2 4x4 and it's a joy!

Since then it's had a remap, I've toyed with the idea of a winch bumper (why? Because I can) some new bigger boots fitted all round, gone up from 225/75/16 to 245/70/16 but it's now perilously close to the front arches at one brief point when cornering and suspension compression, but a slight adjustment with a Hyde mallet should see that sorted.

I've gradually been fitting and fettling little bits, the eberspacher, matrix and fan in the back and timer in the cab. better lighting in the back, got my inverter shelf fitted, my compressor and tank piped up.
Changed the load bay fan electrics so it'll only run when the engines running, using the supplied run signal tail to trigger a larger relay I can put several loads through.

Still got lots of little things to do and some major bits two.

I've been asked a few times now if it's "Finnished" but I reckon no matter what I'll do, a van this will never be Finnished, I'll always have another wee idea I'll want to do.

But for now she'll do for me.

What power have you now with the remap, aye I can concur that once you start 'tinkering' with vehicles they will never be finished, they'll always be something to change/add/remove/alter
Looking good 8) what mpg are you seeing.

I've been parked up for a few weeks as this covid-19 works it's way through the population, and finally started getting a fee more wee jobs done on the van.
Year parking sensors on the replacement bumper step, but two of them didn't like getting pulled out the old step and being stored and have decided to play dead. Needed to cut the parking sensor plug from the old van die to corrosion on mine since it's been inadvertently hanging around in the crap.

Got my rear window washer stalk fitted and cleaned out the washer bottle gauze and fitted my Mondeo pump and joined the outlet pipes with a tee piece and a check valve on each hose.
"Why?" You may be asking? Well I now have skoosh without wipe, which works two fold. If I'm on site I can end up with the screen covers in quarry dust, which can be abrasive as fook in some places, so I can soak the window before wiping rather than doing a "wash wipe" with actually is a wipe and once the wipers are on their way back then the wash will hit the window.
Also when it's colder I can check if scooshers are going to scoosh before smearing the half frozen salt across Infront of me so rendering the poor visibility I had before into next to no visibility at all.

Started looking at getting the arch extensions on then got sidetracked and pulled the front bumper off to see how much modifying I'll need to do to fit my new intercooler. The one I've got is for a 3.2 ranger but it looks about the same volume as a STD 2.4 intercooler but anyway, it will fit but it's going to be tight, definitely think it'd benefit from a purpose built bumper, and if that's the case I might as well fit a winch while I'm at it Image

I think it was supposed to be around 250ps.
On a good run I can get 23+-1 or a on a good run I can get 18-19

Could this lot be fitted to a mk8 transit? Could you mass produce the parts, can you source the additional parts you used at a reasonable cost?
You hear of these ppl fitting out the camper conversations for lots of money. Maybe you could do this?

Certainly seems like a gap in the market.

Could even do a camper conversion 4x4 rugged retain ute

Yes lootieboy
I've potentially got my first camper conversion due this summer but will need to see how the global pandemic situation goes as it'll be on left footer from Europe, being done while on tour.

Still trying to sort out a lair for myself so I can puchase myself some metal working machinery then I can produce virtually every part of the conversion myself.

Also had a look at fitting it into a Mk8 which I reckon should also be doable but just more involved with the add blue system.

My mk8 conversion was a lot easier then the mk3/4/5/&6 with it having not to much tapering of the sides and been longer wider and higher it just gives it a bit more room inside .
As for the add blue it makes it a bit more future proof maybe a good selling point as most people who get a camper tend to keep them a long time
