I'd steer clear of oxy/ace getting refills is a farce.
Boc now own all bottles and you hire them per year and they all have serial numbers which are on the hire sheet so practically impossible to swap old bottles you've got yourself nowadays.
Think most of the big suppliers are the same, but depending on what your doing just use propane. Hobyweld do bigger bottles, than just the dinky ones.
Acetylene is only required for really hot flames, for welding etc. Propane is fine for heating and burning.
Years since I did gaswelding but used to enjoy it.
Nearly pressed the button on a new tig today but bottled out think I'll sit down tonight later or tomorrow and do it... I've pretty much convinced myself it's a toy I will need.
Sorry "tool" I will need!

Not been on here long but if I may offer some advice reference tig welding. With the tig welding you refer too 1/2”plate.The 160 will probably struggle too get a pool going because of the massive heat soak effect.Having used both owning both rtech and parweld tigs I would say rtech the better to deal with and after sales service second too none.Hope I am not trying too teach you something you already know but I have been a welder/fabricator for 35 years.Paul.

Cheers Paul, I'm happy to have any info on many things. Every day's a school day an aw that!
I'm a plant/agri fitter (currently taking out broken exhaust studs on a Porsche with my wee ark inverter, for my mate) but do my fair share of welding but Tig's not something I've dabbled with, I did plenty gas welding years ago before MIGs became commonplace, well for the mob I worked for at the time anyway

I might hit you up for some tips once I get going, as ordered a R-Tech TIG201 AC/DC this morning and a starter pack of rods which I reckon should keep me going for a while.

Stay tuned for the inevitable carnage

Not my ramps but the place that I do use ramps when required it was already up in the air when I got there.

And No! They're being barstewards, but they're not winning the fight

Yes they seem to have a decent reputation amongst the guys I've talked to, not heard much bad about them, think I've seen one gripe about their machine being noisy, and another about 7.5% discount being abit rubbish

And I can see a spewtoobe session happening tonight

Got one bolt left to get out so should have that done by the delivery arrives and can start playing. As it's being delivered to my mates workshop allegedly tomorrow
Got a couple of hobyweld bottles this morning, one argoshield, one argon.
Just need the twat in the unit next door to move out so can get in and sort out this new lair and get going on the projects.

Any tig welding is argon pure only no matter what you are welding.I have dealt with them for years and they are very ‘frugal’ on discounts. :D

Yea the argoshield is for the MIG tired of using the stick at home for wee jobs or borrowing a bottle if I've got lots to do and if I'm getting one I might as well get two

Most of the stuff I do for work is petrol mosa geni/welder or customers MIG in their workshop.

Finally got the flairs on, not too bad I think, would of been happier I think if they didn't curve down as much but came out more straight. But beggers can't be choosers apparently when your paying a premium
Only took 1 na' ½ in the end to get it all done.

.... will add pics from web upload as craptalk says I've uploaded too much already this month
