Thanks,

This axle mounting surely is the nastiest part of the whole build so far.
If someone plans to do this modification: Do weld the struts on spring cups before you remove it from donor van, you save yourself from some real headache later, just saying.

Seems like the mountingholes on front leaf spring mounts werent at identical position, theres seems to be ~5mm difference. Going to have to cut & relocate the drivers side mounts forward as the strut tops dont line up identically at all. Theres like ~30mm! difference at strut top mounts using the same angles on both sides using camber 0 deg. / Caster +1 deg.

Some front axle parts are still bathing in citric acid

Also started the fun part: to bolt new stuff on the ready cleaned & painted parts, all new gaskets, struts, wheel bearings, brake dics & pads etc.

Patched two more rust holes i found, one at rear end and one underneath, thats all welding done for now.
Some finishing touches still to be made in hiding some cables and also some plastic interior parts needs to find their places.
gps speedometer also ordered.

Just need to get all the papers from ford needed for MOT. (easier said than done)
Next week going to get the wheels aligned, hopefully i have the papers by then and then off to mot.

Got the modded rims back and wheel alignment is also done now.
All i need now is the required papers from ford for mot, while waiting its good time to finish the rims

Fronts are mild ~8" and back almost 11" wide. Color options i was thinking: Black, White(probably wont look good with white walls), Silver, or strip them from paint and just let em rust?
Also have only 2 hub caps, got to find another pair and think how to fit them, as theres nothing on the rims that they could hook into.

As for wheels i was looking for something like: Front 205-215/60/R15, Rear 235-255/60/R15 Reinforced and maybe all season, but got to see more whats available.

Thought i was getting to get this thing mot'd this week but "found" again something to fix while scraping some flaking undercoating off from rear wheel tubs (or what turned to be rather something called swiss cheese):

Image

Well ive known the previous owners nasty repairs all the time ive had the van and had in mind to fix them some day, but never did, so guess its time to fix them now:

Image

Sawed old ones off and bent new ones from 2mm thick zinc plated stuff:

Some paint & undercoating and its done

Engine bay is finished for now. Found some use for the ammo box at right as a windscreen washer reservoir, drilled a hole for pump on the box at rear right corner. Working like a charm:
Added new brakelines front to back.

Image
Image

Then have to think how to get the wheels bolted properly on.
As the rims are from newer transit (2000+?) the holes for wheel studs are bigger (m14) + and surface is flat on the rim, so cant use normal cone nuts.
First i thought ill drill the hubs and insert bigger m14x2 wheel studs, but theres no centering hub at rear.
Also tried to find some wheel nuts with washer like in the picture with smaller diameter centering sleeve, without luck.

Closest i found was the ones in the picture, M12x1.5.
Plan is to shorten the sleeves to 4mm (same as rim thickness) and drill the lug holes bigger on rims from 16mm->18.5mm (same as the sleeve on the nut)

Image

As for the hub caps, i had some granada mk2 GL hub cap clamps, which i re-bent them a bit and drilled 5x9mm holes in rims. They seem to hold, but lets see after i get this on the road for proper testing.
