Getting closer and closer to the first trip. Electrics sorted, fridge tested, lights working, sink doing sink things, gas hob in place. New blinds (modified Ikea Hoppvals) are much better but I think make it a little less stealthy looking. My favourite bit so far is the voltmeter and ammeter - nice solution to the fact all the digital battery monitors stay lit by default or even flash when charging. Don’t want that when i’m trying to sleep. They’ve all bright blue as well - who’s idea was fitting bright blue lights to everything and why don’t they stop already?

Those volt and ammeter are pretty cool looking, they remind me of the old VU meters on the sound boards at the recording company I used to work for.

I’m starting to feel your pain with the dodgy bodge repairs made by previous owners, I’m finding more and more filler over rust with this bloody van, did you use central panels for some parts? If so we’re they a good fit.

Yeah I’m really liking the meters and especially like that I’m now done with the electronics… I did use central panels for my arches and sills. I got the outer arches that go to the B pilar but they were about 3cm too short (probably not a problem with the ones that just go to the step. I think i got a few other panels from that were good (steps) but ended up having to fabricate a lot of things.

Right. That’s it. Enough messing around now. That’ll do. It’s ready for an adventure. Wasn’t going to bother with tiles but I got black sealant on the wood that wouldn’t budge so thought it would be a good way to cover that. Glad I did, makes a massive difference. Stuck on with fast dry no more nails and used white sealant instead of grout to allow them to flex.

Like most things, Facebook Marketplace. I got it for £5 but I’ve seen a lot of kits on Amazon etc. for listed as a ‘water filter tap’ and the ones with just the tap about £20 or less.

Day 2 of my European advanture. Thought my suspension was broken but turns out it just had rocks stuck in it. Will no longer complain about English roads. Had the back doors open for 30mins and the inside temp has gone from 38 to 37 degrees. Turns out one roof fan is nowhere near enough but I’m getting used to it.

I’ve taken many pictures of the van. Can’t believe it’s got here after all that hassle. Did get a random airbag light on today but it’s gone now. Will Forscan that tomorrow.

Todays automotive brocante finds. The Cibie fog lights cost me €3… less than the Nutella biscuits

Well it’s been a while. I needed a break and so did my bank account but the van has forced me to pay it attention. After it started again for the first time in a month I rewarded it with replacing the Royal Mail decals. I don’t know I just liked them and think it makes it look a little less like a campervan. Got myself a little vinyl printer for bicycle things before I realised this van still wanted all my money. Anyway. £300 later and I’ve got a working dash clock, a starting van, a mains battery charger i’ll probably never use again and oh I can’t wait to have to pay my parking permit (it’s gone up £35 after a £60 rise last year - must be increased parking costs due to the war in Ukraine), MoT test and however much it costs to get rid of this ABS light.

Fantastic job mate, especially the front bumper it looks different. Also special credit for the jaffa cake drawer, most of life's small problems can be solved with a jaffa cake :P

Only thing it needs is a blow over in race red then clear coat. 8) 8)

I always got told I had a nice shiny red 1 when I had my custom :D

Yeah i did a fair bit on the front bumper last year to set some focus fog lights in it. Needs some touch up soon. Actually had a packed of jaffa cakes not 5mins ago. I’ve got some more fun things to do on the paint in the summer funds permitting but it won’t be shiny I can assure you

Annual service time. First time taking the magnetic plug out and it’s caught a lump of fine shavings. I’d rather there wasn’t any but i’ll take that over chunks of bearings.

Some bank holiday magic. Thanks to a pile of old roofing batten I have a deck on my van. Already questioning how smart this was because of the weight of it.
