1995 Hallmark Rustoration

Postby MinorMatt » Mon Sep 21, 2020 2:18 pm

So yesterday I put down a deposit on a white Hallmark 8) with 77 thousand miles and a lot of rust :(

For those of you who don't know - a Hallmark is a 76PS 100S low roof "Custom" spec van, with the addition of electric windows, heated windscreen and some snazzy hallmark decals. They were produced to celebrate 30 years of the Transit. Ford made 200 in white, 200 in silver and 200 in blue. They were not made available to Joe Public, but were offered to Ford's preferred customers.

As for pictures... well you are going to have to wait until I collect it. I plan to do a "Concours" type resto - with it ready before 2025 (i.e. 30 years after the 30 year celebration!)

"Pictures, Pictures!!!!" I hear you cry! Of course I will oblige! Just not yet

It landed on Sunday

And other than a smashed screen, rotten windscreen pillars, ancient rat sh*t, rotten sills/steps/arches - you know - all the standard smiley stuff, it seems to be ok.

Somebody has made a start with some of the work, it looks to have been done reasonably well but I don't know if its just plated over rot so may have to cut some of it out.

77,000 miles. It has the certificate of conformity, the original dealer handover sheets and every MOT. It was bought new by a truck maintenance/curtain side fitter and has a (hand written) record of every service they undertook (last one at 63,000 ish) miles. Its got the red key, but not the other 2 :(

It also came with LOTS of stuff in the back - including most of the panels needed to do the work but lots of other bits which won't be needed.

Its a really good basis to make a really nice van 8)

Shame I only took 1 picture

Hi Matt,

Glad to see you got it. Even though I have nothing to do with it, I feel part of the club after you told me about it when we met on Saturday!

Good luck with the restoration - have subscribed and will be following with interest - it is way more than I could ever hope to undertake but I love to read about it!
