Unfortunately by the time the 2nd owner buys the van the damage from neglect is already done all we can do it catch and treat any issues as soon as we spot them, I paint the underside of my van every few years with hammerite

Your vans the blue version of that famous bridge they like painting all the time lol..
On plus note, iv now got a working key fob, so can now lock and unlock the van at last, and now, can actually get in the back doors...
I’m gona ask it here first, does anyone have a van without boxes over the wheel wells?, as want to know the size from wheel well to rear of the van, iv got boxes on atm and only got 13” space, I need to find 19” somehow...

New seat coming Sunday, only clue I’m giving is it’s out of a tx4 London taxi...
Should be interesting custom fitting this...
Will be ordering a mk8 passenger seat next month, if anyone has one, can they get me the measurements from the storage area please as this is the location I have in mind for my night heater..

Was thinking this, I have other ideas, ie placing the van batteries under the passenger seat and using the drivers base for the heater, or along the bulkhead where the bolts are on the floor, or behind the drivers seat....
Did contemplate about the engine bay, but it’s tight in there on drivers side above engine mount and also trying to source a air feed back into the van....
My last idea seems the most logical, I’ll fit a rear seat one with space under it and fit it there, about between the rear wheel tubs...

Not looked at the battery setup on a mk7 but if my mk8 is anything to go by with it not just the batteries in there moving all the electrical bits out would be impossible just moving the main battery cables would not be a simple job.

Need to check but reckon down the side of the handbrake would be an option with std seat, or close to there with the Mk8 seats.
But hang on.... Yours is FWD so loads of space underneath next to handbrake as that's normally where Gbox is on proper vans
Behind the seats I don't think is an option as that's a cross member at that point.

I don’t think under the passenger seat would work as there is bracing there for the seats, might be a pita to get the battery in and out.

There is a post on here with a photo where two leisure batteries and the charger unit has been fitted In the twin passenger set box storage it looked a bit of a tight fit but with the heater being smaller if you could drill the floor in the right place to get the exhaust and inlet out it may fit .

I ain’t disappeared Ned, just been super busy with work, planning where to put everything in the van, and yes she’s a mk7, but will be fitting mk8 passenger seat as it has storage underneath it...
Airthies I like the idea of the handbrake area, I’ll measure that tonight, tho considering around moving the handbrake to camper side so on the right of the seat, tho another idea just popped in my head which is to fit it in the jack compartment, I think it’s too big, but again, it’s an idea,
I like tons of ideas before I commit to putting holes in my floor...
I’m trying to set everything up around the seat area with leisure batteries and night heater to maximise space in rear of the van...
Just you lot wait till you see my new drivers seat, I need to fabricate it to fit the seat base but nothing’s impossible...

And I think airthies is winning, I’m liking the idea of next to the handbrake, need to sort the seat belt buckle about, but it’s a winner atm...I’m still getting a mk8 passenger seat to match my new drivers one, but the added bonus of storage under neath for my leisure batteries and a drivers door card on the passenger side, I think it’s a winner...
Now......
Anyone got a pic of what’s on the floor under the handbrake area?..I’m going to do away with the onboard fuel tank, even tho I can run red, I just think, drop the tank, shove the feed in, and use that...tho am I right in thinking I can leave the heaters fuel pump under the van somewhere??
