The bonnet needs repainting anyway from previous things stuck on it but that no the point, bloody stone chips.

   After what I’ve just found it may as well be triggers broom

Slow down  I’m making up for all the years I couldn’t go quick

So you know that saying “the devil makes work for idle hands” well I’ve just stabbed a rust bubble on the rear arch and almost lost an eye as a chunk of filler flew off, it seems the b*stard I bought it from has gone filler happy, one day I’ll be able to start the “making it mine” styling instead of putting right all the bodges.

I’ve had these stripes in a box on top of the wardrobe since July awaiting fixation, the way I’m finding rust and bodges it’ll still be there in 2030

After finding the arch lip is rotten I now have a dilemma, I could buy replacement steel arches, cut, weld and paint or buy these plastic covers (same price as the steel) cut the rotten lip off, seal the metal and stick these on.

The plastic covers will be easier and quicker but without the lip to screw/rivet them to would they stay on.

To me, it's a no brainer. If you have the facility, and the ability to do welding, then do the job properly :!:  :P

That kind of what I’m thinking, if a jobs worth doing it’s worth doing correctly, I need to weld in new lower front arches anyway, if I can do 1 a weekend then hopefully should be done before the weather really changes :? unless I find even more bodges repairs.

Done a bit more today, removed the front wings, inner wings wasn’t as bad as I expected them to be, whoever decided to use shear bolts on the mirrors needs their face shearing, had to use a chisel to brake them off.

All back together the replacement wings aren’t the best fit but not the worst, seeing how bad the wings rusted from inside I painted the new ones with hammerite red oxide then sprayer underseal on them, hopefully they’ll last a bit longer, just need to flat everything down ready to paint.

Mine apparently has a nice rumble and can hear a turbo whistle if I give it some Beens in second and drop the clutch changing up to 3rd
But not excessively loud
