What I found very intresting is the power steering conv. Very smart, I think it wont need that much of work like sundowner's as Im incapable of that!
What type of power sterring is that or from which model can I find a similar setup? Thanks Redeemer.

Hi there, the electric power steering unit is from an MGF, i think it's similar to an Opel Corsa, i just shortened the original column and modified the pedal box to accept the new unit. I'll be figuring out the wiring soon so i'll keep you posted.

Hi Sundowner, yes progress is being made, while i was in the UK on holiday i visited Fred Transit and purchased a Phase 2 dash insert off her and safely packed in my luggage for the journey home. Once cleaned up and painted i could finish assembling the rest of the dash, fit the stereo and period CB radio....

While in the UK i also bought a Springalex steering wheel (as used by a few of the works rally teams of the 70's and 80's), and had a mate of mine turn up a suitable boss. Can't understand why nobody make a boss for a Springalex to go onto an MGF Steering column...

The other thing i've been doing is sorting a gearbox out, which all happened in this last week. Managed to get a T5 for $280 (NZD), would have easily paid three times this for the same thing....
Here it is freshly unwrapped off the pallet
Image

The big question i couldn't wait to answer was if the alloy prop i got from an automatic V8 Fairmont would fit the T5...

Loks ok to me... 8)

Will have more pics up soon of gearbox fitting...

I have also removed all of the suspension, for rebuilding/modifying... Have just fitted up second fuel tank underneath, same position as original one but on drivers side. Engine bay is coming along too, managed to pick up a NOS Lucas ignition coil still in it's box.... Even the date stamp is the correct year! Where's my bobble hat and notebook gone....

Have to spend a few more hours underneath the van cleaning off any loose underseal and dirt before it gets another fresh coat of underseal and then all this can be fitted up!
