Even though I've owned this van for sometime I still found rot.I knew the front crossmember was a bit weak on top but its hidden behind the curve of the front valance.I caught the valance taking the engine out and cracks seemed to reveal a lot of filler so I cut off the centre of the valance above the join with the cross member for a better look. Image There was nothing holding the cross member to the valance,the metal was thin so I cut back a couple of inches (none of that metric malarky here) and welded in new steel. Image I then made up a new top section of the valance Image
