major disaster with the dash pod. i was polishing the plastic surround and tried the carbon in place to see how it looked, grabbed it too hard and cracked the satnav screen.

gutted. :(

when i glued the screen to the carbon i clamped it in place with some clothes pegs, the crack started right where id clamped it, so i reckon i must have cracked it a bit then or it was under too much tension when the glue dried, and a little pressure cauesd it to go right across the screen, theres no way it cracked just from me grabbing it.

the good news is ive managed to get it off without damaging the carbon, so all's not lost.

gonna cost me £110 for a new one, and the old one is deffo junk, it was only a small crack and i was hoping to put it back in its plastic case and use it in the work van, but in taking it off the screen broke into about a dozen bits :(

this project is so slow its got PVS

still, did a little bit today. sizing up some new seats.

Image

these are out of my alfa 156, the lift mechanism broke and i didnt have time to fix it before the MOT, so i got some replacements and these are now sitting about doing nothing. MOMO leather, drivers side has an armrest with a small compartment inside, very comfy and supportive in the car, and dimensionally almost exactly the same as the transit ones, but much deeper bolsters. should look nice with my RS wheel :D

want to fit them on swivels, will also need a passenger side single seat or just a base to mount the other, anyone got one going spare?

have also got my replacement screen for the twatnav sitting here on my desk. not had time to do much in the last year as ive been trying to find my runaway ex and my missing kids.

It's sitting on my drive with the axle out. I'm putting a mk3 axle in so i can run dished wheels and the lsd i've got...been a bit of a disaster...i stripped off what i thought was a 4.56 CW from the perfect condition lsd to swap it into a 4.11....only to find it was the even rarer 3.89...built it back up then got distracted...after leaving it on the bench next to some wire wool and some plumbers flux...you can guess what happened...

Stripped it down again and carefully cleaned all the rust off.....it's now sitting in a bucket of oil so it doesn't happen again!

I'm building the axle back up with mk4 brakes...and there's a different depth in the hubs which means i need to get some spacers made up as the drums now foul the backplates..which i'm in the process of painting right now...i should have just had the disk braked one off luke!

A little over three years later i get the axle back in.

Fitting the mk4 brakes to the mk3 axle turned out to be more difficult than it first appeared, i had to have an 8mm thick spacer made for each side as the mk4 drums arent only bigger in diameter, but wider too...

And then of course the studs were too short, so i had to get hold of some longer AIT studs.... at thirteen pounds a pop...

All new cylinders bolts shoes springs etc..

Wheels are off to have the centres flipped and some 3 1/2" bands put in.

More slow progress. couldnt have the centres flipped on these so 25mm taken off the back to gain body clearance, 100mm added to the front. 8 1/2 j x 14, up from 5 1/2 j. Retention rings for the lotus cortina hubcaps added too. Fills the arch nicely. Bit limited on tyres.

Now on to the fronts, then get them all painted and tyres on...
