More power petrol 2.0 dohc efi mk5.

Already looking for more power
I want to go the down the 2.3 16v road, been sniffing about a few sierra and scorpio sites and think it will be a straightforward swap. The 2.3 scorpio Ultima, my preferred donor is only available as an automatic, I have a manual box so need to know that the transmission type is irrelevant or would I be better looking for a manual
I have several options
Tune the 8v Dohc (lots of work , money and hardly worth the effort)
slap a 16v head on
put a 2.3 16v in

I'd be happy with 150 ps and my Gearbox and axle can take it.
I have high centre of gravity marked on my ID plate is this why my Van seems to sit low or are the leaf springs in need of replacing, any way it rides good and the front lifts when you blip the throttle

what i could never work out is if you look at all the I4 engines the 2.0 16v DOHC fitted to the mk5 escort RS2000 has the best figures- higher BHP and torque

In a Transit the l4 2.0 DOHC 8v, performs respectfully but mines already feeling weaker and have only done 7200 km in it
And to think now how much actual time I've wasted crawling about in a 70hp mk3 for 8 years
But I'm after the cheap and quick power upgrade so need something that will plug and play so the 2.3 looks like the option.
Seen literature that shows a 2.3 petrol mk5 but have yet to see one offered for sale so presume, it will slap straight in and ECU change. Checked my Data with dutch dvlc and the cylinder capacity is not registered, just four pot, 84kw LPG
Thinking about buying a Scorpio in England as they're cheap, very cheap would never get the spec of the ultima for twice as much money over here. Aiming to spend about 1000ísh quid, incl getting it over here, then try and get as much money back as I can by selling off what I don't need

Been looking around and found a listing for sparkplugs, here it shows the ECU as SEfi for Trannie with Cat, which I have. This is the same as for 2.0 16v,(don't know if same in 2.3) this ECU version with Cat will automatically control fuelling at the injector, so no danger of over fuelling if using bigger capacity tips

Almost 20 horse more by slapping a 16v head on.
That Cat., takes power away I believe.
