Just aqquired another mk2 This one is to be built to carry all my kit for mobile servicing and welding. It will be a "Tug" style truck with a rear hitch for straight bar and "A" frame recoveries. Also lockers and boxes for my gennie and welding kit, the rear will be half storage and half flat bed. I intend to fit a foldaway Harvey frost crane so he can be a really useful truck The rear chassis needs some welding but the front is really good. The old Yorkie is still in situ and seems to run pretty well. He has test till December and I hope to have him on the road pretty quick

What tonnage of crane do you intend to put? a 1 -1.5 ton folding type? with outrigers etc

The chassis is fine for length Yes this ones "mint" compared to old Mutters It just needs some minor welding, brake pipes and a body of course! I will be looking for a 1 tonne foldaway crane. He has to be a dog as all my vehicles are named after them. Jimmy was my last jack Russell and lived to the grand old age of 18 I quite like the blue and silver so it will stay that way

AND I SAW A MK6 TRANSIT WITH ONE OF THOSE LIFTING FRAME ON THE OTHER DAY, JUST A QUICK QUESTION ARE THEY ONLY REALY USED FOR SCRAP CARS AS IT LOOKED TO BE RUBBING THE FRONT BUMPER THE WIRES DID AND THIS BOARD THING??

OW AND ON THE SPEC LIFT I TAKE IT YOU PICK MOST CARS UP BY REAR AS LESS WEIGHT AND WHATS THE MAX TRAIN WEIGHT WITH THE SPEC LIFT, WELL HEAVIEST VEHICLE YOU CAN TOW/LIFT

Hello mate, I will be working on both at different times, the lifting cranes do damage the fronts of modern cars, they were designed when cars had real bumpers! Yes I lift the rear to avoid overworking the truck, max train with the spec is 5500kg so with 1200 kg on the spec I can lift most cars up to a couple of Tonnes

Started on the rear body today I am thinking of a stepside style of body with the bed not going the full width of the truck. To this end I have made the rear panel and mudguards so far.
Replaced the front to rear metal brake pipe so I have brakes, taxed it as well as it has to sit on the road.

Bit more body building today Made the body base and started to build up the sides, I am sort of following the step/flareside idea.










I was going to have lockers but I think I will leave it as a pickup with a drop down tailgate
It looks kinda narrow at the mo but I want a sort of "Tug" look with a ballast box on the back for towing and winching
