Mk 5 carpet wagon

Postby carpetmonster » Sun Aug 16, 2009 10:25 am

Ok folks here goes i bought my van in may with 113000 on the clock good condition was ford serviced to 89000 4 months tax and a months mot, I know it was a short mot but she was so clean! anyway i have put 3500 on her since then and she flew through the MOT just needed a ignition switch to cure starting problem.
As soon as i was at home i changed oil and filters, removed bulkhead and passanger seats so i can fit my carpets in nicely! I love this van im seeing around 30 mpg and is lovely to drive!

Plan is to tidy her up and fit out the back for storage of tools etc and make her comftable, quiet, decent van that will last me! Ill be doing this as cheap as i can also Central locking, electric windows and lots of other toys.

Here she is.

Hi Carpetmonster ,

Tidy looking van you,ve got there.
I got my mk5 LWB last november after parting with a sprinter but I have to admit it,s not as tidy as yours is . I,ve got a lot to do to get it looking presentable . I still haven,t taken the bulkhead out so as you can imagine whenever I pick 4m carpet up it sticks out the back end about a metre .
How is the fitting business up there ? I,ve been fitting for over 20 years and never had it so slow , barely breaking even .
Anyhow keep us informed of progress with the van , I need some inspiration .

Another carpet fitter! awsome!

wouldn't mind seeing what ideas you got for tool storage etc etc. the one thing that really does my dads nuts in was when a roll of vinyl landed on a can of 2 stick thing squirted all over the van and stunk real bad. that thing is killer  so feeling a little light headed on the way home

you can see the van in my sig. its almost plain inside except, theres a wall between the passenger at half height; also theres a raised floor near the end of the van with holes underneath and we keep bags of good ol rapid in there along with the welder and heat gun. the rest flies around on the top along with the rubbish and the flooring. we can get a four meter carpet in easy if we rest it on the half wall then push it up near the rear mirror.

its an odd one ours since it has a tailgate and its an automatic turbo. and did have the dual battery mod already done to it.
