my 1988 mk3 lwb semi

Hi all i have been a member for a while now.and without doubt this is the best place to find out all you need to know about transits but were afraid to ask.I fear that i have developed an addiction to transits,as this is the third one in 4 years and the oldest. Started of with a kreg 190 panel, nice van, insulated with lambs wool and carpeted through out,to nice for what i used it for which was my business as a gardener, soon became a rotting smelly mess shame!!! this then sat in the car park as spares for my next transit, untill some pickey decided to tow it away in the middle of the day and take it to the scrappy for cash, fortunately they were caught on cam and the police were very intrested.Next was a m reg transit tipper so for the next year or so the tipper surficed very well and much more practicle for the job , but kind of wanted that insulated and carpeted thing back again, decided to quit gardening after many years and in good time, as the tipper fell apart before my eyes, due to an idiot tyer fitter not doing the nuts up tight enough. a slight knocking noise led to me investigateing, and found that the propshaft bearing shot, so fixed that and still had knocking?!!! found all six wheel nuts loose unbeliveable !!! unfortunately this has in turn led to btm ball joints to fail as well as wheel bearings and now the brakes so this now sat in car park, have deciced to make money out of my hobby of dj'n which is going very well working the pubs and weddings etc. so then best get a panel van again to carry all the speakers etc, and so the latest instalment starts.a friend of mine purchased a 1988 mk3 lwb semi which he had parked up 6 mnth ago and it had not moved, so he said come and have a look,he should have warned me what to expect when i saw it, intresting would be being kind , laughable would be better !!! but potential i think so!! a project starts! and thought why not detail on here as i am damm sure i am going to need the help!!! pics to come very soon.

photos: well i have had a lot comments on this van my 17 yr old nice reckons its creepy, my 14 yr ols nephew reckons it should have a sign on the side saying free sweets and puppys inside.

my god that was a headache,edited in photobucket but no matter what i did the old pic kept comin up, so anyway have done it with thumbnails . good enough!

ok. faults so far are as follows.
No1 the native american paintings on the fridge omg they have to go.
2. will not start on cold mornings ok common fault . filter change and nice new semi synthetic oil, should do the trick all though i susspect a electrical drain somewhere as well.
3.on tickover sat at junction engine seems to be shaking more than normal you feel it through seat and gear stick as if its trying to stop. any ideas?
4. gear shift sometimes hard to get into 1st 2nd and third cluncky and stiff?
5. no heating damm its cold. booooooo!!! ? guessing themostat
6. 2nd battery no idea how this works and there seems to be loose wires everywhere in engine bay, can not get lights to work in the so called living area & sockets fridge etc. see No 1 electrical drain.
7.leaking front windscreen. not good.?
8. can anyone tell me my engine type i think 2.5 di std
9. anybody intrested in some bull bars they have to go prob cost me a tenner a week in diesel.
apart from this when she has warmed up she goes really well. had nearly 80 out of her which surprised me. guess it must be that spoiler someone put on the back..lol

7.leaking front windscreen. not good.? Remove rubber strip, look for rust holes in bottom corners, if OK reseal

Arrh, better pictures, not a bad interior fit out, bet the wood makes it a hit heavy. Do like those leather seats , how comes youve got three colours on the outside?

first things first if any body needs some inspiration then look no further than alanN's project what can i say but wow top work sir, i was an aircraft engineer for over 10 years and the qualiity of your work is spot on! so then i ahve had a bit more time to have a look over her and for 22yrs old she is in very good condition, engine i fear is past its best love that v6 alan. little bitt of bubbleing on all arches but the insides are solid.underneath well theres lots of thick black underbody sealent-paint. thought it might be hiding rot but no !! all good small leak from sump will do this when i service next week . dont know why she has 3 colours but its not been done well . would love to get respray met black or midnight blue but would cost a fortune. have taken a few more pics
