Ex British Gas Mk3 Restoration

Me and two other engineers have just bought this, Pick it up on Saturday:





Ex British Gas Mark 3 Transit 2.0 Petrol, 10 months tax and test, looks quite solid from the pics just hope shes a solid in real life!. Plan is to restore her in full old British Gas livery, after being given full consent and backing from our bosses. Hopefully she makes it back home to Glasgow!

looks well sweet always been after a mk 3 ex british gas or ex bt to put back to there old livery where did u find this 1 ? all the best with it looking forward to the updates mate

I had an E plate 4 speed di Gas van with a tailgate,it was my first di Transit.It towed car trailers and delivered all over the UK.Had it painted Commerial diamond white all over.76 mph was flat out though
Good luck with your project,it would be nice to see a few Mk3's restored to there original company's livery at shows.

Wow thanks for all the positive comments guys! Well she made it home no problem, and we are pleasantly suprised!. The van is in great solid condition especially the floor and wings, it certainly put my w reg smiley to shame! It needs a bit of work around the passenger side bottom arch and the rear arches are just about to blister but it looks as though the van has been wax oiled either when it was new or when it came out of service in 1996. the mileage could be genuine at 59 thousand miles and the 2.0 pinto runs well with no smoke. it could do with a wee tune up and a slight leak is coming from the thermostat housing. The gearbox on the otherhand is another story! its like stirring porridge but i believe they are all like that! its even a 5 speed which i was suprised about. Ill post sum new pictures up but by all accounts it should be a fairly easy resto!

Driving home earlier i drove down a diffrent road and saw a mk3 ex british gas van in a very sorry state on someones drive going green all over doesnt look like its moved in a fare while.

If anyone else want an ex british gas van project let me no and i get the full address
all i no at the moment its in welwyn garden city.
