Well after very long time, baby and one Christmas later, JohnLewis is still in service and running strong 8) . Being on unpaid maternity leave doesn't really allow me to do any cosmetic work on the van (the screaming child tied to my back doesn't help neither   ), but last month Lewis has done me proud. We went to a trip across Europe, 1000 miles there and 100 miles back to Slovakia  Didn't miss a beat! Thanks to AndyG for coming and changing the timing belt and all the other belts and blower motor on the day I was leaving, outside our flat on the street in record time! It was a pleasant drive, Lewis surprised me with very reasonable fuel consumption of about 420miles per tankfull 8) 8) Very pleased, hopefully I'll be able to afford some plastic (or should I say metal?) surgery for this van soon :D

Sorry for the picture quality, it's the only one I took on the journey, just before the crossing

A4lde and as the overdrive band seems to be the first thing that starts slipping and burning out on these boxes, (you end up with a C3 3 speed box  )it was decided to change it for the latest Carbon Fibre band from the States :D (easy if the box is already out, as in this case)

This is supposed to give a firmer shift into overdrive (less likely to slip) and has proved to do just that and that was without changing the overdrive servo to the larger one to cure this fault :!: :D

Only $25, but with import duties etc........ expect it to work out double that

Slovakia and back = no problem :D

would this square seal repair also be likey on a 1997 2.5 Tdi (AUSTRALIA POST VERSION...short wheel base) ??

would be very awesome if thats what can fix it with!!

Taking the pump out requires partial engine removal, right?

excuse my ignorance, i am not mechanically minded, whats the 85ps mean?
