Hi davev6newman,

I bought a Ford Transit MKII 1981 CI-Motorhome completly rotten (like yours) and I'm restoring it. I found your "story" in this forum and I loved to read it. Thank you very much for sharing it with us. You did a really nice job. Cheers

Hi, bought exactly this model back in November.

Has exactly same damp and rotten wood issues, was hoping i wouldn't have to strip back so far but your post has inspired me to do it properly or else suffer later on!

The front luton cab was hit some time ago on the offside, and so the panels need re-attaching, but the wood is all rotten around it (obviously). And the same deal with the window seals and the gap at the bottom to collect the water!

Back shower/toilet cubicle window leaked, but actually was the wrong size for the hole cut, and bodged with mastik so has been since removed (leaky) and an aluminium plate sealed on on the roof in its place!

Wanted to try and save the cupboards on its offside, but want to make it more open so will look into breaking a caravan- thanks for that tip!

Have ripped out shower and toilet cubicle (no need for these when I am working on sites (which is where it will be used mainly!). Mainly for extra space.

Still in my waterproofing stage and going to do the roof with everseal soon.

Step by step it will get there!

Cheers for your posts!

Hi transcends.

How are you getting on with your rebuild?.
I'm. Glad my thread has helped you with some ideas and tips, 3 years in and still no damp in the van, so it goes to show, don't right first time and it will last. Good luck.

After all that work, I hope someone can take on the task of keeping Reggie in top form.

Congratulations on such a fantastic job, The Jennings that you just bought is
in my mind the best camper you could possibly buy, Especially with the 3litre
v6 engine, has it got overdrive ? what a lucky man you are, enjoy it for all it
is worth, Happy Transiteering & good luck with the new project.

Hi there, i think you may have come to this thread a little late. The Jennings has gone to a new owner now, hopefully they carried on the resto and brought it back to life.
