Got the engine thats going to be replacing the 4.1l 6cyl thats living in my van now :D :D :D

Done a 1400km round trip to get it so it better put a smile on my face
the engine is a 460ci 7.5l 400hp big block ford V8  and a 3 speed C6 auto

wont be startin the conversion till after crissy and after i have all the bits needed, I measured it all up today and appart from the 28" width it will fit good, i wont even need to move or mod the gearbox x member just change the engine mounts cut a little firewall away and bolt it in

haha yeah even the 351ci falcs and 250ci cortinas had that problem
its an easy fix with the falcon by just replacing the rubber mounts with polyurethane items but in the TE cortina once you change the rubber to the stronger type the 250 just rips the entire mount of the rail leaving a big hole in your corty and a big dent on the bonnet

The rubber mounts that i got have a 1/2" steel pins that goes through the rubber and steel parts of the mount to stop it from stretching too far

Didnt matter what mounts i put in, it still pulled the buggers apart.

now all you need is some nice steel swept extractors to replace the cast jobbies, some side exit pipes, and yer good to go... 8)

What modifications were done to get 400 hp? A mate drives a Lincoln Town Car with the same engine, output is only 210 hp!

Those engines don't need much tweaking to produce bigger power. Just from flowing them & adding bigger carbs you release shed loads of power (not like these horrible little european engines that need major tuning to release tiny horsepower gains). Good mod is a holley 650 double pumper, port n polish, slightly higher lift cam, decent swept extractors to replace inhibiting cast jobs, and you are talking a large increase in urge.

I want one

210hp  it must be f*#ked or a its a D2VE smogger these engine are very restricted with pollution gear and make bugger all HP i take its a mid 80's car??

The engine i have is std with 360hp and the only mods needed to make 400hp is a mild cam that favours the exhaust an early timing set and a 750 vacuum secondary carb

You're right, it's a 1977 Town Car with all the emission gear, but mind the 1969-71 were rated at SAE gross bhp, not net bhp, so should have a power output around 300 "real" hp! But in case of this engine i think hp doesn't matter, cos there's so much torque! :D Great engine!

Yeah cheers mate!

I have no idea of the torque output of it as yet but will put on a dyno for some fun once it going but that wont be for a while
