Winter Runaround :)

Postby gravelrash2004 » Wed Oct 19, 2011 3:32 pm

Hello All

Just bought this to run around in over winter and it will be getting carpeted and a bit of tlc. Does anyone in the midlands area have a single seat for one of these not bothered if its from a passenger seat from a minibus or tourneo etc. i just want it so i can sort the foam out on the drivers seat. as you can see the seat is in a state. not bad for 600 and with 11 months MOT

Comments appreciated on the following idea folks

am thinking of painting my van in olive drab and black

http://www.crouchrecovery.co.uk/images/ ... cles10.jpg

(like landrovers do) fitting some side windows and some military style graphics on the side. what do you reckon? this a bit overboard for the old girl and make it a target for dickheads or a good idea?

was also going to have the web address for the following sites on the front and rear bumpers

www.supportoursoldiers.co.uk/

www.helpforheroes.org.uk/

Cheers

Got some seats from out of an old minibus.

have stripped the foam and covers off the frames. have put the seat covers through the wash cycle and come out lovely!. Just got the fun of removing the seats from the van and fitting the replacement foam and covers.

wish me luck lol

Well today saw a replacement diff going in. van no longer whines like a tired child that refuses to go to bed.

retrimmed the drivers seat and got hold of a single passenger seat too. retrimmed that and fit it into the van.

phew some hard work done today i think.

next on the list is to change the rear brake shoes. they are about a couple of mm thick so need replacing asap. got a leak on the lift pump to sort out with a new gasket and fettle the rear crankcase seal. may as well inspect the clutch and flywheel while i am at it......... nothing wrong with the clutch, but if it is as worn as the rear shoes then it will be as easy to change it then as any.

pictures of the seats in situ as soon as i can.

Went to get a couple of keys cut and programmed for the van today.

After being quoted £45 each i beat a hasty retreat and found this lockset on the bay of e.

£55 for a full set and i will have all matching keys round the van.... better than the 3 i have at present
