Van is back on its feet,
but axle was only going back in temporarily,
wanted to see how it sat with weight of diesel engine, and also because ive set the engine further back want to make sure the sump had pleanty of clearance with axle beam
and that clears fine
(even sitting as low as it at the moment)
with the diesel springs i had removed from a scrap factory 160 diesel van, first signs we're not good i compared v4 springs and diesel springs upside on floor, v4 springs sat 1 inch higher, not a good start, and when standing on each spring felt no better with my body weight pushing down
so i bolt them on axle and fitted back on van
but if i didn't know better id of said someone's put a diesel in that and not changed the springs, ive seen many sitting low but that's not what i want, its all about how it sits,
When i changed my ex AA mk2 120 from petrol to diesel, i got lucky waiting at some traffic lights opposite a garage near were i live, a guy shouted out from the garage im breaking a mk2 ambulance need any bits, do you still have the front springs? Yep £40 and i fitted those drove it with the petrol engine for a couple of weeks it sat up like a 4x4, when i fitted the di it sat spot on and handled well, not so good was shunting it in a parking space and 205 tyres, if it was a tight gap id lift the tailgate up so i didnt smash my body guard bumper in to someone's car, anyway getting back to the mk1 im going to need another set of factory diesel springs, i will up load the pics ive taken some sitting how it is and others with help from an engine crane
