Six cylinder Australian Mk1 transits.

Postby baconsdozen » Wed Aug 10, 2005 9:12 am

I had an email via my site (http://www.baconsdozen.co.uk) from a guy in Australia who has an Australian Mk1 transit post van.Apparently they were fitted with Ford Falcon six cylinder engines!.I've asked him to join the forum (he needs a few spares as well ) but haven't seen a post on here yet.Does anyone any knowledge of these?.They must go like the clappers. They cut away the bulkhead but I'd be fascinated to know what other mods they carried out and why they chose the Falcon engine.(Keep it in the family maybe).

This must have been a relatively common mod down there,I've had another mail from a chap in New Zealand who is re-building one of these.I've directed him to these pages as well.

Its not a mod its how they came off Fords showroom floor
In Aus they had the V4 but only in the very early transits but it wasnt up to standard so ford aus fitted them with 200-250ci inline 6 cyl engines they also had the 2ltr pinto engine but im told that they are really poor performers and not all that common
