Sheldon top remodel

Postby WorkyTicket » Tue Jun 04, 2019 9:41 pm

Hi folk
Has anyone cut a sheldon high roof top open and extended the height? I’m considering giving my Mk1 a higher high top as at 6’4” it’s a little bit cramped. I’m thinking of cutting the top off and building a rim with fibre glass (the roof looks to be just fibre glass) then reattaching it to the new rim.
Cheers for any thoughts (even if they are “what are you doing you idiot!”)

So mig welding bodywork is much easier with Argon / CO2 rather than just CO2 it turns out!
