Axle ratio code help

Postby phorbiuz » Sun Jul 07, 2019 1:09 pm

Hi all

It's been some time since I was last on here, so it's good to see the forum still alive and healthy. I'm hoping someone can help again please.

My mk2 AutoSleeper is based on an '85 100 model, originally a 2.0 mated to the standard 4 speed manual. The VIN plate states I have rear axle type B, ratio E. I can't find any reference anywhere to ratio E, so can anyone enlighten me as to what it is? There is no tag on the housing.

Thanks.

If it is the same coding as for the Mk1, then axle ratio E would be 5.86. But i don't have any info for the Mk2.

Again, if it is the same as the Mk1 then axle B would be the 1550kg axle.

I think you will have to test the axle by rotating the propshaft with a wheel off the ground and counting the relevant number of turns in order to make sure.

Propably "B" it is gearbox (manual, 4 gears), "E" it is rear axle 4,44:1 Timken. But I'm not sure for 100%.
