MK 1 Suspension issues

Postby jrp1 » Wed Aug 07, 2019 3:21 pm

Hi
Got a 1972 transit which was converted to a motorhome. the engine was swapped out for a 1995 2.5di diesel, as you can imagine the new engine and gearbox has caused some issues with the front suspension,
Question 1
I have been on the German web page Motomobil and they show front helper springs, also spring assisted front and rear shock absorbers, the inside of the motor home was a wreck when i bought it so it has been rebuilt with a lot lot more weight, the back springs are about 3-4" below the bump stops
Question 2
can you fit semi air suspension to the mk1 axle, the axle is square

Many Thanks JRP1

Not sure on spring rates for the front axle but the diesel transit had a inch + spacer block between the spring and axle that the petrol did not have
for air surspention try Conrad Anderson they do kits for motorhomes

Thanks for the reply, that solves the reason why somebody welded a 1" block on the front bump stops, still thinking about getting these https://www.motomobil.com/3237,43221000-1.html
