Testing of the temp gauge

Postby Angler56 » Sat Dec 07, 2019 6:54 am

Hi
Can someone point me in the right direction troubleshoting the non registrating temp gauge? I have voltage at the sender wire. I have a Ohmvalue in the sender. But no recording at the gauge. The fueltank sender works fine. Sending a picture of my car, 1983 MK2.

If you put the sender wire to earth does the gauge go to full? it should if the gauge and wire are fine, if it doesn't then its probably the gauge, if the fuel gauge works the voltage regulator for the guages is probably ok.

as Chuggy said, ground the wire (I think red with a white tracer?) to the head and that should give full scale deflection. Make sure the sender unit is the correct one, there are a lot of senders with different resistance values.
