Exhaust gasket advice Pinto 2l

I've recently fitted a new exhaust to my 1982 mk2 minibus which has a 2l pinto engine. I'm not a good mechanic but it seemed a simple enough job.

There seems to be a leak (or a least a bit of noise) coming from where the first bit of exhaust (downpipe) joins to the manifold. This first exhaust section flares out at the end and has a diamond shaped piece which bolts into the manifold and clamps it all in place. I have used silicone sealant here and for all other exhaust connections. This seems to have worked well apart from in this location. I was wondering if there is a better product or some sort of gasket that can be bought or bodged up to create a better seal in this area and make the van run more quietly?

You need proper exhaust sealant fi you hadn’t put it on it would have sealed up on its own on my rally car I used to put it together with copper slip as it was removed for very frequently for mot if it was blowing a bit I’d just smear a bit of exhaust past out side if the tester was pinkie .
