Mk1 transit gutter rot

Postby blue74 » Thu Apr 01, 2021 12:34 pm

Good evening gents, I have finally purchased my first transit and need to replace the roof gutter around the rear of the van. The factory gutter is not a simple folded section and has a curve up the side and swage along the bottom. Does anyone have any tips on how they have successfully remade the gutter section to include these features?
Any pictures of how you have done the repair would be great.
TIA

I might have some used gutter sections, when I replaced mine I had to remove the roof skin.

Thanks Ralph, I wondered if that may be the best option. Looks like I have a lot of welding to do.

ive seen a lot of vans with the drain holes gone / filled in,,, on a light coloured van after a lot of rain it would leave a dirty stain where the water runs down the back quarters where the holes were

The easiest way I can see would be to make up the gutter drain out of a piece of sheet metal then cut out a slot from the drip rail and weld the new piece in.
