MK2 2.5L throttle stuck open

hi all,

1986 2.5L diesel

Started it recently for 1st time since ownership, the throttle is stuck wide open (so turned off immediately).

I tried moving what i think was a throttle lever, where excellerator cable meets, but its stuck. I hammered
it it both directions to see if made a difference and its doesnt. Throttle still stuck wide open.

any ideas ?

I can't imagine the throttle mechanism being jammed tight, unless the governor mechanism has broken, what happens when you push the throttle pedal?
Is it the Bosch or Lucas Pump, yeah post up some pics.

when excellerator peddle is moved, it does nothing, it doesnt move the idle cam at all even though cable is connected.

I think its Lucas.

Yes it's an old lucas cav, on the throttle cable, prise the clip sideways and then remove the cable from the ball, then see if there is any movement, if not then put a spanner on the mechanism securing nut and see if you can move it, but don't force it, also check if the other nut to the side hasn't tightened/rusted stopping it from sliding. Otherwise it looks like its pump top off time and investigate.

I managed to free up the throttle cam, its free, but after starting her again its still stuck on full revs.

hi all,

ive been trying to remove the fuel pump with no joy. there's various niggles im struggling with,
access to certain bits being one of them. Im no mechanic by any stretch.

Anyone nearby who can help ?
