Alloy Escort Radiator?

Postby jckm2000 » Wed Aug 10, 2022 2:40 pm

Hi Folks,
My MK2 pinto is overheating, new pump, thermostat (tested), fan clutch etc. Only thing left really is the rad.
I quite fancy one of those alloy Escort race radiators, they're a bit smaller than the original though.

Has anyone fitted one? Are they up to the job?

Short wheelbase motorhome.

Cheers,
Jon

When I fitted a di radiator to my mk1 pinto conversion in winter I had to put a blind on part of it to get the heater hot enough.
Have you checked the if it’s flowing air and water through it it’s not blocked or the honeycomb fin’s are not breaking up.
As for a mk 2 escort rally radiator it should really be better if it’s one for 2.5 millington engine / 16 valve engine that they now use in them as the get a lot more hard work then a transit thought smaller they will have better air and water flow but maybe a lot more expensive then a new or reconditioned standard radiator
