engine number 2.5di

Hi All,

i have had a look on the forum and looked at various suggestions and the only "numbers" i can find on a 2.5di banana non turbo are above/behind the alternator and the one i think is an engine number is 3 numbers,a letter, a hyphon followed by 4 numbers and 2 letters. I should mention the engine came out a ldv so possibly different arrangement then ford.

Any help on how many letters/numbers i should be looking for and any potential locations. the only place i haven't checked is the flange of the sump which i will look at tomorrow.

So far as I can remember, it is behind the bracket bolted to the block, which supports the power steering pump. I can't remember if you have to remove the bracket to see it, but It's a row of numbers, (can't remember how many) but should match the last numbers in your VIN number, unless LDV do it differently.

It’s also possible on the block behind the fuel filter but I may be thinking about genuinely Ford exchange engines they had a plate stuck to the block in that region you had to remove the filter element to get a good look at it

Hi,

thankyou for your suggestions, i have ended up finding it. it took a long time!! it is in dot form letters and is stamped into the lip on the edge of the block where the sump connects under the starter motor, next to the gearbox. it is stamped LDV 4HB XXXXX. so it looks like due to the donor vehicle being a ldv it is in a different place to a ford. every area i checked online said as altransit has confirmed that it can be found on a ford 2.5di near where the power steering bracket is fitted. i found a picture confirming this online also.
