j type laycock overdrive box

What speedo cable should i use as i'm changing th e gearbox to above and existing cable is too short gearbox to a j type laycock

Just done a google search and they are list Speedo cables for mk1 and 2 they are just longer then what you have

The speedo cable on an overdrive gearbox is the same length as a 4 speed as the overdrive gearbox tail shaft is shorter. What are you ding about the propshaft as they are longer & need a sliding joint in the centre?

Yes long time ago thinking about it it will be the same back then I fitted two o/d boxes both came out of mk 3 lwb vans the one I fitted to a mk 2 lwb was a straight fit prop shaft didn’t need modification,the second box was also mk 3 lwb but going into a mk 3 swb that had to have the prop shaft shortened this didn’t come with a gearbox crossmember so I had to cut the centre out of the one on the van and lower the centre and reinforce it to get the box low enough at the rear both vans had the wiring for the gearbox change button on the gear stick and no need to fit a fuse in fuse box both been plug and plug.

There is readily available a "smiths" 90 degree adaptor (angle drive) .. that may give you some extra length. wiggle room.

i was looking for cable for you .. listed all 60's 70's 90's cars ..all but not the transit .. but all could be fitted with this adaptor .,.(angle drive)
