A Big TRANSIT

Postby petervanlee » Fri Apr 08, 2005 12:38 pm

Hi All!
Just got back from the NEC; what happened to all the Transit Guys off the site? I was hoping to see you all at the show! I had to give jackets, models, watches, T-shirts, and shed loads of other stuff away all week to people I did not know when what I really wanted to do was to give it to you lot............. Still all working I suppose, need to keep that food on the table and I know time off is not easy.
There was a great music band all week, and there was tea and drinks! It was the best show I have done in the 15 years I have worked for them. Newsflash: Transit are doing a cruise from Essex to Southampton, trying to get into the guiness book of records I think and at the same time promote the Vans when we get to Southampton, there'll be a bit of a "do" for the line workers that make the vans and their families.
Looks like it will hapen in July at the moment, this is going to be good.......
Super van is going to be at BransHatch for May 14th and 15th, and the birthday party is still on for later in the year, maybe at the Design Center. Ford Europe have got into gear at last with their own line of clothing and logo. I will put a bit on the webpage about this over the weekend - as soon as I speak to a guy from Belgium I meet on Tuesday....... I will also put pictures of the show online at the same time, and will let you know when its done.
All good stuff and a great year to own Transit vans.
A little titbit for you - Supervan1 will be back on the road next year with any luck, along with a 1970's MK1 custom van.

Peter

40th Birthday happenings

Postby petervanlee » Fri Apr 08, 2005 10:55 pm

How are we to get the news out to drivers?? any idea's ,,,,,,,,,,,, I have spoke to classic van Mag tonight,, Ted the Editor is going to do a very big article in the magazine on Transit vans soon. I am going to put a bit in about this site if that’s OK, (LMK Luke if that's OK with you please) Ford have also asked me to start up a real Transit van club with there support a none profit club that just does stuff for drivers any profit goes to a Kids charity,,,,,,,,,,,,,, I would love some feedback on this from Mark and Phil and the others as I am not sure if I should do it or not. It’s not the first time I have been asked to do this. I would need help to get it off the ground and once a year at a show of some kind. LMK what you all think.

Run a Transit club, well at least you'd know what you were letting yourself in for. I'd like to say yes, good idea, but without knowing more, I think I'll reserve judgement for now.

I would have liked to have gone to the NEC, but we were working, but will be able to make it to the ace cafe (god, I could walk but it would kind of defeat the object if I don't bring a tranny!).
One bit of 'work' I did do was filming for Top Gear with our Mk2 phase 2 LWB panel van. Pete, I believe you were in the frame for this one, but for some reason they wanted a Mk2 . Sounds like you had your hands full at the NEC anyway. I have still not got used to somebody else driving away in my van while I watch, at least no this van (the Lutons are a bit different), even if it is Richard Hammond.

Oooh Super Van 1, I thought that Ford had lost touch with it and it had been scrapped! Glad that wasn't true!

I would love to get involved with a Transit club, it's about time we had one, there are enough fans out there. The trouble is it is hard work and could turn into a full time job, so I have to agree with Mark and Phil on that one.
