MK1 TRANSIT AXLE AND DIFF, HELP REQUIRED!

Postby mr bump » Thu Jan 10, 2008 9:43 pm

Hi all, can anyone help with the id of a transit mk1 tipper(1965-70 i think)english diff, the axle it came out of has the square axle profile. I bought it to have a look to see what the differance there is between this and a escort mk1/2 english diff. And apart from the transit diff being bigger, theres no differance at all..........APART from the planet gears. On closer inspection of the transit planet gears, it looks like its a lsd of some sort. When the flange is turned, both halfshafts rotate the same way, and when pressure is applied to one halfshaft and the flange turned, it is really hard to turn. So, its not like any lsd from an escort english axle, if it is one, but does anyone of the boys/girls know much about this diff? I know its a 5.1 (7-36) cwp.And is the cwp the same size as a capri atlas cwp?
Thanks
If it aint broke, take it apart to find out why!!!
