battery tray

Postby mike c » Mon Jan 21, 2008 10:54 pm

i would like to add another battery tray to the driver side of the engine bay, the moulding is symetrical with where it is welded in on the other side so i assume they were fitted there on some transits (seen loads of mk3s with a battery on both sides)

so:

1) can you buy the battery tray for a mk2 any more for the drivers side?

2) does anyone have one they wouldn't mind cutting out for my :P

3) can a mk3 one be welded in fairly easily, anyone done this - they're on ebay for £20 so wondering whether to start with one of them or just fab one from sheet if the first two options are non starters.

Thanks

Mike

Our MK II has always had 2 batterys but then it's a camper. Recently I took the 2 old ones out, put one good one in and taped up the terminals on the other side. Sorry, you can't have it though. I may go back to two one day and doubt I could get it out easily anyway.

i dunno if you can get mk2 ones at all but from memory modifying a mk2 passangers to drivers would be easier than modifying a mk3 to fit :?
