mk1 master brake cylinder replacement

can l fit a mk3 transit master brake cylinder to my mk1 as the seal in mine have went or is it a big job or can it be done cheers steve

I have a Mk 3 Servo and master brake cylinder fitted to mine. I got a garage to do it only tuck him about 15 minites.

Interesting, cos if you fit the Mk3 to a Mk2 (and we have, loads of times) you usually have to adjust the push rod to the cyl that the pedal is attached to. Did they do anything like that, or just fit it and you were off?

Fred, yes they had to put a bigger bit of pipe over the rush rod but it did not take them long.

also i think the mounting hole centres are different :)

the Mk3 servo dips slightly to the driver's side, but works just fine.

the kit on e-bay has ended but this one on e-bay may help no. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/260213865251 they said it was new.

just fitted a mk3 servo and cyl to my mk2 4bolt to two bolt re-drilled holes in and welded up mounting bracket to retain strength mk 2 rod cut off old full of fluid servo and welded to cut down 3 rod to get length of rod to pedal correct, now stops as it should, I find having brakes less exiting driving but anything for a quiet life.
