early 2.5d help!

Postby jacksdad » Tue Jul 15, 2008 8:08 am

I've got an LDV camper with a recon transit 2.5d engine.
The lift pump on the side of the block hasn't been connected up but it runs okay, would i gain by connecting it?
Will it run on biodiesel, its the early engine not banana manifold, with big round air filter.
Thanks, Mike

Depends what pump it has, some of the pumps have internal lift pump.

Also if you have an injection pump with CAV on it it's a Lucas and won't last long if you use veg oil.

I run my puegeot 405 on used veg oil, bosch pump so should last a while, done a year already!
I want to run the transit motor on proper biodiesel, use it in my newish renault master with no probs but not sure about older style motors. The biodiesel is made by a local firm, better running and mpg than oil diesel and costs 99p litre!

If it's processed biodiesel it should be OK in any engine. Theoretically it's no different than regular diesel.
