1) bushes/shackles might be of different dimensions

My intention was to leave my existing rear springs in place so hopefully that shouldn't concern me.
3) Rear diff Ratio

I asked about that and was told that all Transit diffs, including single rear wheels, were 4.63:1
What other ratios are there in dual wheels?
4) mk3 axles are 1 1/2 to 2 inches narrower than mk2 versions (the difference being between the spring saddle and the drum

I'm not sure I understood that.
Is the whole axle narrower or is the difference just between the saddles and the drums?
I wouldn't be happy with a narrower rear axle, I'm sure, but if the difference is just where the saddled are mounted I could grind them out and mig them in the right place, as I have done already with my existing Mark 1 axle to mount the springs under it.
as far as i know both the mk1 and mk2's over here had the saddle on top of the axle so the springs sits down onto it

I thought only the Mark 1 dual wheels had that slipper spring monstrosity.

The only difference I'm aware of is that here Ford Australia used the diesel nose as used in your Mark 1's and by cutting a big hole in the firewall and welding a metal box that protrudes into the cabin, onto which the 3 speed gearbox lever and linkages were also mounted, they installed a Falcon 200 c.i. (3.3 litre) six cylinder inline engine, which fortunately is exactly the same dimensions as the 250 c.i. (4.1 litre) which is what I have in my vehicle although unfortunately I wasn't able to keep the original forward mounted gear lever when I swapped the gearbox for a T5 that has the lever coming out of the floor.

What sort of engines you have in your Mark 2's?

Here Ford used the slightly newer and more efficient cross-flow 4.1 litre six cylinder inline engines with a removable (from the inside) engine cover.

Try and post a picture of your axle on here as you might find it is completly different to the UK ones!

mk3 axles are narrower overall, the spring and shock mountings remain the same distance apart from each other so should fit ok (exception "possibly" being the chassis cab ones) basically you will have a narrower wheelbase than before at the rear

That's the equivalent of asking a monkey to do Algebra. :)

I'll see if one of my kids can help me to do that.

Does the same apply to Mark 4 and 5 rear axles?

My Mark 1 left the factory in 1973 as a 175 cab chassis but the whole cab, including windshield and doors were removed soon after, (first registered in 1974), leaving only the dashboard, bonnet, mudguards and front grill as the only things original to a Transit body and was used as a white goods and furniture delivery vehicle until I bought it in 1982 and put a grinder to it.

Now the front seats and all the rest are in one single box two metres wide, five metres long and 1.85 high with one single caravan type door behind the passenger seat and roof hatches and windows in all the appropriate places.

mk4 and 5 i have no experience with really, all i can tell you there is the wheel size is different (went up to 15" then i think) also i think the chassis cab ones are considerably wider (again spring saddle positions "might" be different distance apart too)
