Steering Gear

How many people have suffered from excessive play in the steering box and how did you fix it?

In my steering box the end of the shaft in the bottom of the box where it runs on the balls was pitted and damaged so we ground the end of the shaft till it was a nice push fit in an angular contact bearing we put in there insted of the loose balls. My box is the burmen brand.
